Sports and recreation

This golf course has already posed a challenge for many a golfer. At an altitude of 504m above sea level and a length of 5417 meters / Par 71, this 18 hole course boasts a design with plenty of variety. Only 10 minutes from the Hoftaverne Ziegelböck you could be teeing off at either the driving range, putting- and chipping greens or on the 3 hole / par 3 practice course.

In only 15 minutes you will have reached the Austrian Equestrian centre from the Hoftaverne Ziegelböck. Throughout the year the partly historic riding halls host several tournaments, galas and championships. Popular with our guests, they of course need to tend to their horses early in the morning and can sometimes return from competitions late in the evening. Our opening hours that allow these hardworking stable hands to have breakfast from 06h30 and their dinner until 22h00, are very valued by these guests.

Rivers Alm and Laudach are ideally suited to dry-fly fishing. Wide river bends as well as deep pools are the dream of every fisherman. Along a stretch of 14km you are certain to catch a freshwater trout, rainbow trout or a grayling, which we are more than happy to prepare for you. Please contact reception for further information or day passes.

  • Pilgerweg via Alm

The local researcher Veronika Pitschmann created a new pilgrimage trail that leads through Pettenbach. She has captured the route as well as points of interest along the route in the guide „via Alm“.

The pilgrimage trail „via Alm“ (via means way), that leads from the Alm peak, the confluence of the river Alm and the river Traun at Fischlham, to the source of the Alm in the Alm Lake at Grünau, exists since 2012. „The Alm is the red string of the pilgrimage trail as the route always leads back to the river.“ stated the trained guide Ingrid Huemer who created the trail together with Veronika Pitschmann.

Broken down into four one-day hikes (each approximately 22km long) pilgrims experience the nature, culture, spirituality and gastronomy in the regions Wels-land, Gmunden and Kirchdorf. They also learn about the art and history of eleven churches along the route. The trail is designed in such a way that one always reaches an Inn by lunch time and dinner time.
